Donate your time, tools, dollars, or knowledge

BTL is a volunteer-led initiative that exists because of the generous support from you: our vibrant community. Read on to learn how you can help us promote the causes of sustainability, waste reduction, community building, and resource sharing.

Time – Volunteer with us

It’s fun!

The hours and roles are flexible.

Science says it’s good for you!

Knowledge – Offer to host an event

Maybe you have rad cross-stitch skills you want to share. Perhaps you’re keen to teach others how to build an Arduino watering system. Let’s work together to make it happen!

If you’re keen to volunteer, or have suggestions or questions, please email us at volunteer@brunswicktoollibrary.org

Tools – Donate stuff you don’t need

Many of our tools are donations gifted by our generous community, and for that we are greatly appreciative.

We can’t take every tool as we have limited space, but if you would like to make a tool donation please email btl@brunswicktoollibrary.org and include a list and some photos of the tools you’d like to donate.

Where to take tools we can’t accept

If we can’t take your old tools or electronics, there are still better options than landfill:

    • Get it fixed at a Repair Cafe! If you have equipment that’s broken, consider bringing it to one of BTL’s Repair Cafes (mostly the fourth Saturday of every month), where we help people fix stuff.
    • Donate or Swap with Good Karma Network - Join a community where local people donate and swap unwanted things and advertise garage sales.
    • Sell online: Consider selling unwanted items on Gumtree, Ebay, or Facebook Marketplace.

For more advice on how to save old stuff from landfill, contact:

The Brunswick Tool Library acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Eastern Kulin Nation as the owners of the land on which we sit. For millennia they have fostered the spirit of sharing, learning, and living sustainably. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded, and pay our respects to their Elders — past, present, and emerging.
